Electric Youth: All About Microcurrents
Known as the “nonsurgical face-lift”, microcurrents diminish the signs of aging, improves facial contour, helps with lymphatic drainage and brightens the complexion. It uses a low level electrical current to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin. It also repairs damaged tissue and re-educates all 32 facial muscles to become firmer and tighter.
HOW THE MICROCURRENT FACIAL WORKS
Microcurrent uses tiny electrical currents to mirror the body’s natural currents to increase Adenosine Triphosphate production (ATP), which drives the creation of key structural proteins, such as collagen (Our skin’s natural collagen production decreases by 1% each year.) and elastin and is the biochemical way to store and use energy. A microcurrent facial can increase collagen production up to 14%, elastin increases 48% and blood circulation increases 38%. The increase in ATP also energizes facial muscles, causing the skin to feel tighter and more lifted. Microcurrent is capable of facial stimulation, sending soft, gentle waves through the skin, tissues and down to the facial muscles. This increased ATP also energizes the facial muscles, similar to how exercise energizes the muscles of our bodies. Unlike anywhere else on the body, the facial muscles are directly connected to the skin, so the result of energizing the muscle is often an improved, lifted appearance.
